Amazon announces the expansion of its operations in Brazil with the new Distribution Center located in Cabo de Santo Agostinho, Pernambuco. The second operation in the state will enable the creation of up to 860 jobs in the region. With the inauguration, the company has already created more than 2,000 jobs in 2021 just in the area of operations in the country, employing more than 6,300 people in the sector, in addition to thousands of other temporary jobs planned for Black Friday and Christmas.

The new Distribution Center reinforces the company's commitment to increasingly accelerate business in Brazil, offering hundreds of positions with competitive salaries and differentiated benefits for its employees. "The Northeast is an extremely important region for Amazon, so much so that we are inaugurating our second operation in Pernambuco. We aim to increase the company's logistical capacity in the country, increasing the variety and bringing the products sold closer together, improving the customer experience and reducing delivery time nationwide. In addition to creating jobs and income for the communities," according to Ricardo Pagani, Amazon's operations director in Brazil. "We would like to thank the State Government and all the teams that worked tirelessly to help us with our important expansion in the region," he points out.

"We were very pleased to see that, more and more, companies trust Pernambuco to set up their businesses. In the case of Amazon, our strategic location and the necessary conditions for implementing the distribution centre ratified our vocation to act as a regional logistics hub. Faced with so many challenges posed by the pandemic within our Resumption Plan, we are certain that these actions are essential to generate employment and income for the people of Pernambuco. We continue with this determination," said the governor of Pernambuco, Paulo Câmara.

"Having a company like Amazon in the state shows confidence in the efficiency of our logistics hub. In addition to its privileged location, the state shows its ability to dialogue with the private sector and offer the necessary support", highlighted the secretary of Economic Development of Pernambuco, Geraldo Julio.

In total, with the new operation, Amazon will operate eleven distribution centres in Brazil: five in Cajamar (SP), one in Betim (MG), one in Santa Maria (DF), one in Nova Santa Rita (RS), one in São João do Meriti (Rio de Janeiro) and two in Cabo de Santo Agostinho (Pernambuco). "Our goal is really to leave the inventory, the products closer to the customers and make an increasingly faster delivery to our consumers", complements the director.
