World trade giant, second only to Walmart, the largest retailer in the world, Amazon has invested in the last two years in Brazil to expand its share in the Brazilian market.Since 2020, the company has increased the number of distribution centres in the country from one to 12, with sizes between 30,000 and 50,000 square metres.
Even with the expansion, the number of Amazon units is smaller than that of competitors, which have 30 centres, as is the case of Via (owner of Casas Bahia and Ponto). Americanas S.A. (Lojas Americanas and B2W Digital) has 25 distribution centers, while Magazine Luiza's total is 24 and Mercado Livre, 10.
