Last week, the Estadão newspaper reported that Carrefour plans to launch residential and commercial projects around its hypermarket stores within the next ten years.

The retailer's real estate business pillar, called Carrefour Property, is expected to lead the development of 50 mixed-use projects. SiiLA's CEO, Giancaro Nicastro, spoke about the company's strategy in the interview.

"The hardest thing for the real estate sector is finding a good plot of land in capitals, especially large areas in central regions. And there is no shortage of developers, investors, or funds willing to put money into good projects," Nicastro told the newspaper. Read the full report in Estadão here.

Among projects under development by Carrefour is Alto das Nações, which we had previously announced on SiiLA Insights in early 2021. The multipurpose complex is being built on the same land where Carrefour built its first store in 1975. The hypermarket and gallery of stores just got ready. However, the entire development, which includes a residential tower for sale, another for multifamily (residential for income), and a corporate tower, is forecast for 2025.
