In January 2024, a REsource article discussing the monopoly of exclusivity in corporate leasing activities, ignited significant debate among industry players and led to legal action by CBRE Brasil against SiiLA.
This October, CBRE has officially submitted a request to withdraw the last remaining civil lawsuit, and SiiLA agreed amicably, bringing an end to the legal dispute between the two companies.
“As SiiLA celebrates nine years in Brazil, we remain committed to our mission of delivering data, insights, and content to the Latin America real estate market" said Giancarlo Nicastro, CEO of SiiLA.
In June, CBRE announced that its Brazil President, Walter Cardoso, would be stepping down, with Vice President Adriano Sartori assuming leadership. Under this new management, a dialogue opened between the two companies, resulting in the decision to bring the lawsuit to an end.
"We are pleased to have opened a dialogue with CBRE," added Nicastro. "SiiLA will continue to pursue our mission of promoting transparency and innovation in the CRE industry," he concluded.
When reached for comment by the REsource team, CBRE Brazil declined to comment.
