São Paulo City Hall plans to revise one of the most controversial parts of its master plan to encourage more parking spaces in buildings near metro stations and bus lanes.
The project meets the demand of the real estate market, facilitating the construction of medium and large units with more than one space - in the opposite direction of the explosion in the supply of micro apartments in recent years.
The modification affects the structuring axes of urban transformation, covering a radius of 150 meters on each side of the bus corridors and a 400-meter beam along the subway and wagon stations, whose verticalization and demographic growth are encouraged by law.
The Master Plan is a law that defines rules and incentives for urban development, until 2029, in the capital. The draft proposed this month will undergo public consultation and hearing. A final draft must be sent to the Chamber by March 31, with the chance of further adjustments.
