CNN closes offices for part of US employees

The advance of covid-19 in the United States motivated the company's decision to lay off part of the employees.

CNN decided to close the US offices to all employees deemed "non-essential" because of the advancement of covid-19 and the omicron variant. Employees who do not need to work in person will be dismissed and will work remotely.

The decision was disclosed in an internal memo on Saturday (18. Dec. 2021). According to CNN President Jeff Zucker, the measure was taken out of "caution". "It will protect those who will be in charge by minimizing the number of people who will be there," Zucker said in the memo obtained by Reuters.
