Engineering companies, which dominated highway concessions in the country in the past, have regained strength in the market, but now with a new profile: through the association of medium-sized construction companies. This type of consortium has become a recurring presence in sector auctions, especially state-wise.
Of eight concessions bid by states since 2019, five were won by consortia made up of medium-sized construction companies — alone or in association with a larger group.
