The Brazilian postal service, Correios, achieved record profits in 2021, which will be presented at the company's board meeting on Thursday. The exclusive access to the financial report by Valor newspaper reveals a net profit of R$ 2.3 billion and a recurring profit of R$ 3.7 billion.
This positive result will enable the company to resume dividend payments, which have been suspended for the past ten years. The projected amount for dividend payments is R$ 251 million, pending approval at the general assembly scheduled for April.
Correios' President, Floriano Peixoto, also revealed exclusively to Valor the next milestone of his management: transforming the company from a logistics operator into a marketplace by launching the "Correios Shopping" by the end of the year.
"We are changing our profile. We are one of the largest logistics operators in the Southern Hemisphere, but that is no longer enough. Correios will compete with other companies in the sector because with our reach, expertise, human, material, and financial resources, we can explore other options for the company with more and better conditions," said the retired general, who assumed the presidency of the company in June 2019.
