Recently, the Brazilian Association of Real Estate Developers (ABRAINC), in partnership with the Center for Building Technology (CTE), conducted a survey showing the advancement of ESG practices within developers.
The study heard from 27 companies in the sector to survey the extent to which ESG practices are part of the company's day-to-day activities.
During the research, the study found that the topic had become essential and became part of the discussion agenda for investors and companies in the civil construction and real estate development sectors.
Around 71% of these entities already carry out ESG actions, and another 29% are in the initial implementation process.
Close to 88% of the real estate developers and builders interviewed reported that the environmental practices they are using are good and claim to adopt systems and technologies that cause less environmental impact within their projects.
In addition to the environment, the survey dealt with issues related to the social field of companies and found that 81% consciously act on diversity, equity, and commitments to the communities in which they operate.
According to Roberto de Souza, CEO of CTE, investors, real estate funds, and banks will increasingly prioritize companies that incorporate ESG principles and practices of environmental and social responsibility and governance into their management.
According to ABRAINC, the sector has been searching for more sustainable solutions for more than a decade. There is no lack of examples of this, such as the increase in Green Building certifications in the country.
"The benefits of ESG also help companies improve their business, increasing productivity, efficiency in the construction stages and attracting new customers and investors," explains Luiz França, President of ABRAINC.
