Favela Log, the logistics arm of Favela Holding, operates 112 favelas and 12 communities in Rio de Janeiro, serving companies such as Procter & Gamble (P&G) and Natura, which will gain scale. Entrepreneurs Celso Athayde, founder of Favela Holding, and Luciano Luft, one of the three shareholders of Luft Logistics, joined forces to expand access for favela residents to e-commerce and formal retail that "does not go up the hill". Invited by Athayde, Luft becomes a partner, with 50%, of the company, renamed Favela Llog (with an extra "l") and today inaugurates the operation in São Paulo with the opening of a distribution centre in the favela of Paraisópolis.

With operations until now concentrated in Rio de Janeiro, Favela Log has always relied on the capillarity of Central Única das Favelas (Cufa), a social partner of Favela Holding which is present in more than 5,000 communities spread across 26 states and the Federal District. And it was this power that made it possible to deliver goods to communities from North to South of the country, in large centres or riverside quilombolas, that caught Luft's attention during the covid-19 pandemic. "I have known Celso Athayde for many years, but this partnership made me realize the ability to scale and overcome this challenge of guaranteeing the access of the population of the favelas to a market from which they are often left out simply because companies do not deliver to their homes," says Luft.
