After announcing in January that it planned to lay off 12,000 people worldwide, Google began notifying its employees in Brazil about the cuts in the local operation. The company's justifications for this measure are team restructuring.
Among the areas affected are professionals in finance, YouTube, marketing, and advertising.
The company did not disclose the exact number of employees laid off or the areas most impacted.
In the global announcement, Google informed that the employees would receive a termination package following the labor laws of each country.
For example, the company secured 16 weeks of salary in the US, two additional weeks for each year worked, plus health coverage for six months. However, so far, information about the benefits offered to dismissed employees in Brazil has yet to be announced.
Google, in Brazil, is headquartered in the Pátio Victor Malzoni building, a class A+ located in the Faria Lima region, the financial center of São Paulo. Do you want to know more company occupancy data in the country? Subscribe to Market Analytics.
