Data from the São Paulo Commercial Association indicates that 38.2% of Brazilians intend to make purchases on Black Friday+, scheduled for November 24. The survey reveals that 22.2% of people plan to advance their Christmas shopping, 46.2% intend to acquire necessary products, and the majority, 53.2%, seeks to take advantage of promotions.
To meet the anticipated increase in demand, companies in the logistics sector are implementing measures to avoid surprises during this period. Loggi, a delivery company, estimates a 25% to 30% increase in delivery volume, according to the company's COO, Alexandre Félix.
"We are optimistic about Black Friday 2023, anticipating a 25% to 30% increase in delivery volume, especially in the electronics and apparel segments. Although the volume is higher, the expectation is that the consumer's average ticket remains like last year. Interest rates, inflation, and Brazilian debt are factors influencing these expectations," he says.
Felix explains that various strategies are being developed by the company based on past experiences. Loggi has been preparing since September for year-end sales, with strategies ranging from the IT team to the institutional communication team.
"The preparation covers all partners, and we have contingency plans ready to face any challenges that may arise. With coverage in 4,200 cities and average delivery times of 2 days nationwide, Loggi adopts specific regional plans based on the forecasted demand," explains Félix.
According to data from the Brazilian Temporary Labor Association (Asserttem), the final stretch of 2023 is expected to generate 470,000 jobs between October and December. The American retailer Amazon has already announced the temporary hiring of six thousand people to meet sales demand.
In addition to hiring, Amazon has invested in logistics, expanding from 14 Delivery Stations in 2022 to 62 units, along with 10 Distribution Centers from Ceará to Rio Grande do Sul, aiming to expedite deliveries nationwide.
"At Amazon, our priority is to keep our teams safe and satisfied to deliver quickly to our customers. The hiring of temporary employees aims to balance market demand and provide a healthier and safer working environment. With our entire structure, technology, and the support of thousands of dedicated people, we are ready to deliver smiles across Brazil this Black Friday," says Ricardo Pagani, Operations Leader at Amazon in Brazil.
