Leroy Merlin, a chain of construction material stores, has set a goal to expand its logistics network in 2023, aiming to optimize and decentralize the operation of trucks. Among its plans, there is delivery in up to 3 days domestically.
In addition, the company will have two more new distribution centers in Recife (PE) and Brasília (DF), complementing the company's heavy truck distribution field, which already operates with a DC in Cachoeirinha (RS) and Cajamar (SP).
The Cajamar distribution center has more than 110,000 sq. meters and is getting an investment of more than R$ 70 million for the automation of heavy goods with stacker cranes, which will expand its capacity by over 20,000 pallet positions.
According to Marcelo Machado Arantes, Director of the company's Supply Chain, the location is essential to optimize the operation of the new DCs.
"The location of the DCs optimizes our logistics operation so we can highlight this as one of the differentials. To choose these regions, we conducted a study considering strategic logistics issues, thinking especially about how to optimize deliveries cost-effectively, reducing delivery time and increasing quality", says the executive.
