Marcio Chammas, Executive Director of Magalog, joined Giancarlo Nicastro on Episode 9 of the SiiLA PODCAST. The executive, who also has experience at Netshoes, explained the operations of Magalog and the broader Brazilian retail market.

Chammas oversees the company’s entire operation, which originated as the logistics arm of Magazine Luiza but now operates independently.

“Magalog operates nationwide: it delivers volumes for all of the group’s brands and also functions as an independent logistics provider. In addition to serving Magalu companies, we work with over 100 external clients, which reinforces our value, reach, and density,” he said.

One topic discussed was tax reform and how logistics operators are navigating the changing landscape.

“Today, we have 17 distribution centers dedicated to Grupo Magalu and four others serving Época Cosméticos, Kabum!, and Netshoes. Within a platform, you can see a strong migration of operations from São Paulo to Extrema due to tax benefits and ICMS rate differences. That trend has decreased but still exists—and the reform should end that advantage. From Magalu’s perspective, however, we are already in the right locations, with well-distributed stock. […] There won’t be major changes for us,” Chammas explained.
