Mercado Pago, a digital wallet born in Mercado Livre and today is a huge provider of various types of financial services, joined forces with the manager Órama to create an investment platform. The offer will start for a small slice of the 34.5 million user base next week, but the idea is to scale quickly, replicating Mercado Pago's success when it launched the option to buy cryptocurrencies late last year. The commercial agreement has no capital participation involved - has a minimum term of five years, and provides exclusivity.

Known for working with the C, D and E classes, Mercado Pago says that there was demand from its customers for investment products. The debut product is a CDB from the group's finance company, with an investment starting at R$ 1, which yields a yield of 150% of the CDI, in promotional profitability valid for those who make the application in May and limited to R$ 5 thousand. The offer will start with more straightforward options and then expand. The strategy is very similar to other investment platforms, such as XP, Toro and Genial, which advertise CDBs on social media with eye-popping returns.
