Neuroarchitecture helps transform workspaces for the new age

With the return to face-to-face work, some companies have turned to neuroarchitecture to create compelling atmospheres with the home office's comfort and security for so long. Shapes, colours and textures are used to stimulate creativity, integration between people and employee well-being, a proposal that also reflects and strengthens the company's culture.

To combine neuroscience with architecture is to add and give scientific value to what, before, architects did intuitively. "Now, not only people's behaviour in space is being researched, but also how space affects people's behaviour over time, how memory and feelings of well-being improve", says Mainara Avelino, architect of the office. Spaceplan has been operating for 25 years with a focus on corporate.

In any environment, the elements used can trigger positive or negative triggers. "One of the things that neuroarchitecture helps to understand is that we have some needs concerning the environment. We may not always be aware of it, but it can help us feel better", explains Andréa de Paiva, an architect specializing in neuroarchitecture and creator of the Neuro AU project.

That is why, in organizations, the idea is that projects also help in the activities of professionals. "A smaller space with low ceilings helps with concentration. A large space, without a lining, with plenty of lighting and colours, helps socialization and creativity", exemplifies Mainara. At the same time, these components guide people's behaviour according to the situation: quieter in smaller spaces with little information, more expansive in open and colourful environments.
