The new bet by the former owner of Patrimóvel: corporate real estate ‘tokens’ for investment

After nearly four decades at the head of Patrimóvel, Rubem Vasconcelos is back in the real estate market, but with an update. Instead of commanding an army of brokers, the 70-year-old veteran is among the partners of a startup that wants to sell commercial real estate through “tokens”, a type of crypto asset.
BrixBr wants to place on the market projects such as logistics warehouses, shopping malls and corporate slabs. These properties will be fractioned and “tokenized” — that is, they will be represented in the form of crypto-assets registered on the blockchain. Investors will buy one of the fractions and will be able to benefit from rental income or the eventual sale of the property.
