London recently got a new six-story commercial building primarily constructed from wood, which produces 37% less carbon and less waste than standard building materials such as concrete.
The building in Shoreditch was built by Office Group (TOG) and Waugh Thistleton Architects and is called "The Black & White Building".
Solid wood construction is a viable replacement for concrete and steel in commercial buildings, saving tons of CO2 and saving from 4 to 6 months of construction time.
The building is also designed to be broken down and has solar panels to provide electricity.
The development offers bicycle storage, 28 offices, 6 meeting rooms, lounges, kitchens, a yoga studio, and a roof terrace, with natural wood used in walls, floors, and furniture.
