Offices of the future will be living spaces, according to ESG director at XP Inc.

With the progress of COVID vaccination and the decline in the deaths numbers of those infected by the disease, some companies decided to resume face-to-face activities. Compared to the work environment before the pandemic, the differences range from wearing masks to social distancing. But it doesn't stop there: some companies have adopted a new position, already thinking about the future.

This is the case of XP Inc., one of the first to adopt the "anywhere office" ("office anywhere") as a permanent model. According to Marta Pinheiro, director of Culture and ESG, this allowed opening up the range of opportunities and hiring talent from other states and even abroad, enriching the company's culture. Currently, 45% of employees are outside the city of São Paulo – before the pandemic, 98% lived in the capital.

The investment manager's current headquarters, on Avenida Brigadeiro Faria Lima, became an eventual and optional destination for employees. "In-person work is now about teambuilding, about meeting the team or talking to a client in person," she says. "It's a living space.

"XP's plans for the office of the future are ambitious. The company announced the construction of a corporate complex for the team in São Roque, about 60 kilometres from São Paulo, named Villa XP. It will be a kind of holiday club covering 705,000 square meters, scheduled to open in 2022.
