In a dynamic gathering last week, global logistics solutions leader Pitney Bowes orchestrated an engaging event to delve into the forefront transformations shaping the real estate landscape. Held at the distinguished Aroeira Tower auditorium within the Parque da Cidade complex, nestled in the Chucri Zaidan region of São Paulo, the event brought together luminaries and experts.
Kicking off the event was Samuel Caparrotti, the astute Country Manager Brazil of Pitney Bowes. He set the stage for a day of insightful discussions by passing the baton to Ana Claudia Durigon, the Coordinator of ESG at Brookfield Properties. Durigon, an accomplished Environmental Engineer, captivated the audience's attention as she shared compelling real-world ESG cases implemented within her company. The resonance of environmental, sustainability, and governance initiatives among potential tenants was underlined by Durigon. "Even before contracts are signed, Brookfield receives inquiries from prospective occupants about the company's ESG commitments.", she said.
Subsequently, Léa Lobo, a distinguished journalist and the Head of Content at InfraFM Magazine, delved into the pivotal role of facilities within the realm of real estate. Lobo emphasized the heightened significance of this domain in the post-pandemic era, serving as a linchpin for companies' strategic maneuvers. Stressing the importance of data-backed insights concerning the market value of commercial spaces and industrial properties, Lobo advocated for staying attuned to trends to optimize cost efficiencies and expansion strategies. "Companies need to be cognizant of pre-pandemic per-square-meter costs and current valuations", she cautioned, "as well as how to repurpose vacant offices and manage the expenses of space transitions."
Elias Bernardo, the enterprising Head of Procurement & BPO at Elo, shared valuable insights into the integration of technology within facilities management. Patrick Silva, the enterprising Director of Multi-BU Sites & Industrial Services South America at BASF, presented tangible case studies demonstrating how the facilities domain can strategically augment business value and productivity. Silva also explored the intricacies of adapting the corporate headquarters of BASF in São Paulo to the open space concept.
Last but far from least, Tiago Alves, the enterprising CEO of Regus & Spaces, Audi ambassador, and anchor of Forbes Live, offered an invigorating glimpse into the future of work—a vision closely aligned with the theme that propelled his best-selling book, "Neither Home nor Office: The Future of Work is Hybrid". Alves traversed the transformative lessons imparted by the Covid-19 era, delving into cultural and behavioral dynamics within work environments. Meeting the diverse needs of various generations within the confines of a shared space was underscored by Alves as a formidable challenge, and he championed flexibility as a potent tool in the talent acquisition battleground. With resounding clarity, Alves forecasted an era dominated by performance-driven management and a burgeoning reliance on hybrid work models.
