Recently, a survey carried out by IWG, a global flexible coworking and office work company, showed that searches for shared workspaces had grown significantly. The company recorded a 93% increase in demand in the first quarter of 2022 compared to the same period in 2021.

Much of this growth in the search for these spaces is due to the consequences of the "new normal" in the corporate market, especially the hybrid (or flexible) work model.

The pandemic changed the schedule of all companies because of Covid-19. Companies have had to adapt to working from home and, soon after lifting health restrictions, to the hybrid system.

According to IWG research, this growth in the search for coworking is just a reflection of this hybrid working model.

In Brazil alone, the use of coworking spaces by Regus and Spaces (brands of the IWG group) increased by about 56%, comparing the month of June with the beginning of the year. The most popular days are Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

According to the IWG, the office has become an increasingly vital space to promote face-to-face collaboration, with countries such as Brazil, the UK, Italy, and Spain leading the way, registering an increase of over 200% year on year.

Globally, the growth was 166%, as employees seek to make the most of face-to-face meetings.

"This fundamentally people-centric approach allows companies to attract and retain the best talent, which is absolutely critical in today's competitive marketplace. Ultimately, by embracing hybrid working, companies save money, gain flexibility and reduce their carbon footprint, while employees spend less time and money traveling without losing the social aspect of office life," says Mark Dixon, Global CEO of IWG.
