Even with the easing of lockdowns and restrictions during the pandemic, the shopping centre market in Brazil has faced low attendance. Many stores stopped receiving around 100 million visits, representing a 21% drop compared to 505 million in 2019.
Glauco Humai, president of Abrasce, says that two factors explain such behaviour; one of them would be the fact that most malls are located in corporate regions and the growth of online sales.
