“People don’t like to work — they’ve learned to tolerate it.”
That’s how the latest episode of the SiiLA PODCAST, hosted by Giancarlo Nicastro, CEO of SiiLA, began. The quote comes from guest Thaís Trentin, CVO of Workplace, who was joined by the company’s Head of Business, Leonardo Augusto. During the episode, the participants discussed well-being, employee engagement, and the role that corporate spaces play in these topics.

According to Augusto, people have evolved, but the culture of most companies “has not evolved along with them.” The duo explains that today, we have about five generations coexisting in the same workplace, and the way the environment impacts, motivates, and brings out the best in each differs.

Following this reasoning, with so many people merely “tolerating” their jobs, work becomes survival — and the office, consequently, a prison. The way forward would be to shift the perception of work toward purpose and make the corporate environment the stage for that journey. That’s precisely where the Workplace team comes in: “The physical environment shapes behavior,” says Trentin.
