In the two most populous cities in Brazil, the vacancy rate of medium and high standard corporate slabs has been increasing, according to data from SiiLA. In São Paulo, it went from 14.8% in the 1st quarter of 2020 to 21.2% after one year.The performance by region.

Unlike São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro was already struggling last year, still resulting from the economic crisis since 2015, registering a vacancy rate of 29.5% in the 1st quarter. For this reason, the increase wasn't a sharp one in the annual comparison, with Rio de Janeiro market having a vacancy rate of 30.7% in the first three months of 2021. Check the chart.
