Votorantim Cimentos has opened a new Distribution Center in Fortaleza, the capital of Ceará, more precisely located in the neighborhood of Aracapé. The new operation will replace the unit that was close to Mucuripe Beach.
Votorantim Cimentos has a long history, dating back to 1936 when the company established its first factory in the city of Votorantim, located in the countryside of São Paulo. Today, the company has expanded its operations to 11 countries and has become the 7th largest cement company in the world in terms of installed capacity. Votorantim Cimentos is a subsidiary of Votorantim S.A. holding, which also owns Banco BV, the real estate vertical Altre, the infrastructure company CCR, and other companies in its portfolio.
The new DC was conceived on a 19 thousand square meters site, and the construction itself has a circuit for water reuse that reduces the consumption of water resources in the unit by 20%. The water-saving system was also implemented in other DCs of the company in the state and is aligned with the sustainability commitments assumed for 2030 by Votorantim.
Located in an area close to the railroad branch of the Transnordestina Logística Railway (FTL), the Fortaleza DC will facilitate the logistics for shipping products. The unit supplies the northeastern market with cement, adhesive, and mortars.
"The opening of this new DC strengthens our way of doing things with excellence, which has as its principle the focus on the customer to offer a fast and quality service. By doing this modernization and logistics expansion, we reinforce our commitment to continue investing and believing in the growth potential of the Northeast region", said Tiago de Oliveira Medina, Logistics Manager of the company's Northeast Regional Office.
Also, in the state of Ceará, the company has two cement plants, one in Sobral and another in the Pecém Industrial Complex, and three DCs, one in Juazeiro do Norte, one in Crateús and the new one in Fortaleza. Fortaleza DC fits in the construction of an stand alone industrial property and is not included in the statistics of the monitoring carried out by SiiLA.
Considering properties that are monitored by the SiiLA Market Analytics, Fortaleza has an inventory of more than 325,751 square meters of industrial properties of Classes A+, A, and B.
Also, according to the platform, there are no vacant spaces on those properties: the first quarter of 2023 data indicates that the vacancy rate reached 0%. Market Analytics has also monitored Votorantim Cimentos' occupancy in offices. Currently, the company has its headquarters installed in the Sky Corporate, a Class A+ building with 21,917 square meters of total area, located in Vila Olímpia, considered a CBD region of São Paulo.
The property has 20 floors and is 100% leased, and besides Votorantim, the asset has other top tenants from the Chemical, Electric Power, and other industries.
