With malls with an even smaller audience, the chain inaugurates a megastore on Avenida Paulista, with an eye on the region's sales potential

The new coronavirus pandemic imposed a “new order” in traditional Brazilian retail. With the advancement of e-commerce and the potential spread of the virus in closed environments, shopping centres have become places to be avoided by a part of the public, especially the elderly. Under the new rule, the stores that stand out are those that are open, airy, spacious and bet on technology to mitigate contact with the shopkeepers. Keeping an eye on this trend, the sporting goods retailer Centauro decided to open its first high street operation. In recent days, the company has opened a store on Avenida Paulista, in the heart of the city of São Paulo. The 2,145 square meter megastore was born in a new format, backing on technology to attract buyers. They are intelligent fitting rooms, mats for experimenting with shoes, screens that simulate running circuits. It will implement the model in other physical operations.
