Even amidst the COVID-19 pandemic between 2020 and 2022, the world couldn't stop. Despite some mobility restrictions, the vast majority of companies implemented the concept of remote work, which for most people occurred from home, known as "home office." However, during this period, other "names" emerged such as the "road office" or the "anywhere office"; one that became popular was the "office resort."
The "office resort" basically involves working in a hotel or resort, whether in the countryside or by the beach. This trend emerged during the pandemic and was widely used by those who wanted to "change their scenery."
This trend has not changed with the end of the pandemic; a survey by IWG showed that 71% of people would consider changing jobs if there was greater flexibility to work remotely.
The 7th edition of the Robert Half Confidence Index showed that these work models are no longer in high demand. According to the survey, 35% of companies require employees to be present in the office daily, and only 7% of companies continue to operate fully remotely.
Another survey, this time conducted by VR with Instituto Locomotiva, shows that 82% of workers work in person, and only 18% have some form of flexible model. Furthermore, the main beneficiaries of this model are from the A and B classes.
The concept of resorts with workspaces was important during the pandemic period. The fate of this type of work may seem uncertain, but there is still a market for it. The IWG survey shows that among the new generation of workers, 14% are willing to work remotely, 36% prefer the hybrid model, and only 11% want to work fully in person.
A survey conducted by Booking.com between January and February of this year, and made available to REsource, showed that 78% of Brazilian travelers work from home once a week.
The survey indicates that 54% engaged in "workation," a period that combines remote work with leisure travel, during the past year. Additionally, 33% revealed that they have not done so but are interested in taking this type of trip.
