Tacito Cury is a survivor. Before emerging unharmed from major tragedies, he had already learned how to reinvent his own reality and bring it closer to his dreams. On the NXT Podcast, in a conversation with Giancarlo Nicastro, he shares how September 11, the Thailand tsunami, and the fire at Notre-Dame Cathedral gave him a new perspective on life.

On the streets of São Paulo’s outskirts, he mapped out a plan to become an actor. Still very young, while selling newspapers on the street, he began investing in learning English and building a career outside Brazil.

When the planes struck the Twin Towers and the world stopped to follow the unfolding terrorist attacks, Cury, who was inside the World Trade Center, felt the impact of the tragedy on his own life. The next day, he learned that he had had direct contact with one of the terrorists shortly before the planes hit the buildings. “I taught one of the terrorists. [...] Imagine opening the newspaper, seeing a terrorist, and saying, ‘I know him,’” he recalled.
