Amazon has just started operations in its first Distribution Center (DC) in Ceará and third in the Northeast region, on top of two more operations that the company already has in Pernambuco. The news had already been revealed and confirmed by Amazon at the end of August.

The new Distribution Centre is located in Itaitinga, 25 km from Fortaleza. Amazon operates now twelve Distribution Centres throughout Brazil, São Paulo, Minas, Rio Grande do Sul, Rio de Janeiro, Pernambuco and Ceará, and the Federal District.

According to the SiiLA Brasil platform data, the new Distribution Centre is a class A+ project at Log Fortaleza II with a gross leasable area of almost 45,000 sq metres. Another 48,000 sq metres are scheduled for the second quarter of 2022, totalling over 93,000 sq metres. Amazon became the largest occupant of the complex with the start of operations, followed by the food retailer Assaí.

Ricardo Pagani, Amazon's operations director in Brazil, stressed the gain in capillarity of the company's logistics system: "With this new operation, the company will expand the range of products available in the region and will bring the offer of products even closer, benefiting millions of consumers from different states that will have faster deliveries".
