According to Abel Ornelas, the director of operations at Via Varejo (owner of Casas Bahia), the company’s priority today is to expand the business to these regions. “If I open ten stores, nine will be in the North and Northeast,” he exemplifies. Since the second half of December, in addition to these 12 stores opened in the North and Northeast, there have been four more openings in Palhoça (SC), Viamão (RS), Apucarana (PR), and Paranoá (DF).
In November 2020, Via Varejo inaugurated its first distribution center in the North region. The location is strategic to expand its supply capacity for new stores. The company intends to venture into territories that are less populated by its brands. Ponto Frio will also be part of the expansions this year, but in the Northeast, the Casas Bahia brand has a good presence.
The company will also allocate a more prominent space in the store layout for the click-and-collect service, which is a faster and more cost-effective way to deliver products to customers in locations with more complex logistics.
