The biggest "white elephant" in the Rio real estate market, Eco Sapucaí, is finally being worked on. After six years — since opening in 2015 — the building built next to the Sambadrome has finally managed to find its first tenant, sources told the column.

According to one of the sources, french-American oil and gas company TechnipFMC has leased 6,000 square meters of the building and is expected to enter the building within a few months. The contract represents a relief, but it does not solve the project's problems: there is still a need to find interested parties in occupying the 83 thousand square meters still vacant in the building.

The property, designed by Oscar Niemeyer, Eco Sapucaí holds land in the former Brahma factory and belongs to GIC, Singapore's sovereign wealth fund. In recent years, both the state government (at the time of governor Luiz Fernando Pezão) and the city of Rio (Marcelo Crivella administration) have considered moving the public machine there, but the plans have not moved forward.

The property has 19 floors, 34 elevators and 1065 parking spaces.
