Iguatemi's online sales division attracts investor interest

The online sales division of the Iguatemi shopping centre chain – called Iguatemi 365 – has attracted the eyes of investors and could be one of the pivots of the group's growth strategy going forward. The entry of new partners is one of the options on the table, says the president of Iguatemi, Carlos Jereissati. According to him, the rapid expansion of the platform "has awakened the interest of many people" in understanding the combination of the physical and online world and becoming associated with the business. So far, there has been no formal proposal. But he says these expressions of interest open up opportunities for the "near future" and that management is eyeing potential combinations.

This week, Iguatemi and its parent company, Jereissati Participações, proposed to minority shareholders a merger of the two companies. The idea is to prepare the group for a future issue of shares and fundraising, thinking about opportunities to acquire companies.
