In addition to celebrating the achievement, the company makes a point of highlighting: "all of our sellers (sellers) are legalized and issue a note", says Leandro Soares, the company's marketplace director. The statement is a blow at some competitors who, in Magalu's view, "do not have the same commitment to Brazil".

It's also almost an outburst. In practice, Magazine Luiza could already have many more registered sellers if it did not seek to certify the legality of all of them, according to Soares. For every five shopkeepers who try to sign up to sell through the Magalu platform, one is already discarded right away for not meeting the company's documentation requirements. The four that continue in the process still go through more sieves. According to the executive, the company checks whether the company has a CNPJ and whether its registration allows the sale of products that the store owner seeks to register.
