PepsiCo, a leading food and beverage company, and CHEP Brasil, a logistics firm, have joined forces in a partnership named "Collaborative Transportation" aimed at promoting greater sustainability within the logistics sector. According to both companies, this initiative has already seen the completion of one million kilometers using shared trucks, resulting in a reduction of over one million tons of CO2 emissions in the atmosphere.
The foundation of this project lies in the efficient use of vehicles for cargo transportation. Leveraging its own fleet of trucks for product distribution, PepsiCo capitalizes on the return trips of these vehicles after deliveries, which would otherwise be empty, to transport CHEP's pallets, the key supplier for PepsiCo's logistics operations.
Elaborating on the process, André Cardoso, Country Manager of CHEP Brasil, explains: "Without this partnership, PepsiCo's trucks would return empty, and we would need to employ additional vehicles to retrieve our pallets, leading to double the mileage. Thus, our aim is to operate more sustainably, and this drives each of our operations."
As a result of the collaboration between CHEP and PepsiCo, nearly one million pallets have been transported during 2,000 trips, resulting in a substantial reduction of 3,357,850 kilograms of CO2 compared to conventional pallet usage. The calculation was conducted by the Belgian consultancy RDC Environment, utilizing a life cycle analysis methodology. Additionally, the vehicles utilized in this partnership are powered by gas, significantly reducing pollutant emissions in comparison to diesel-powered vehicles. The companies envision incorporating electric trucks into PepsiCo's fleet as part of the partnership, further enhancing energy efficiency while reducing greenhouse gas emissions and noise pollution.

PepsiCo's Presence in Industrial Properties
According to data from the SiiLA Market Analytics real estate platform, PepsiCo occupies approximately 82,000 square meters in logistics warehouses throughout Brazil, with a presence in several states, including São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais, Bahia, Rio Grande do Sul, among others.
One of the assets with the largest logistics area occupied by PepsiCo is the GLP São Bernardo do Campo, a Class A development with nearly 30,000 square meters of Gross Leasable Area, located in the Grande ABC submarket.
