The Pet Friendly movement has made a strong impact in office spaces. This trend has emerged due to the increased number of people who have adopted pets during the pandemic, coupled with the reopening of the economy.

According to data from the Environmental Surveillance and Zoonoses Management, pet adoptions between January and September 2020 were twice as high as the total number recorded throughout the entire year of 2019.

In recent months, with the return to in-person work, many pet owners have started bringing their furry companions to the office in places where it is permitted. Several corporate establishments have embraced the Pet Friendly concept, allowing domestic animals within their commercial premises. Additionally, the majority of coworking spaces have also adopted this policy.

Studies indicate that having pets in the corporate environment brings numerous benefits to employees, including:

·        Reducing tension in the workplace

·        Encouraging greater team interaction

·        Alleviating anxiety and stress

·        Creating a more joyful and welcoming work environment

Are you interested in welcoming pets to your company? Before anything else, consult with the property management to understand their pet policy. If the premises are Pet Friendly, the next step is to adapt the environment to accommodate the new visitors. Ensure that you have an appropriate space for pets to eat and drink water.

Communicate with your employees and provide them with all the necessary guidelines, including the recommendation that animals be properly vaccinated and dewormed. It is important for each person to bring their pet's hygiene supplies, such as training pads, as well as the necessary food. If needed, consult a veterinarian for detailed guidance.
