Last week, the City Council of São Paulo approved the alteration of the zoning around the Jurubatuba river, which will enable the extension of the Marginal do Pinheiros to the south zone and allow the construction of buildings without height restrictions in this environment.

According to the Law, the extension of the Marginal must be done in areas close to medium and high-capacity public transport systems, such as trains, subway and monorail lines, VLT (light vehicles on rails), and VLP (light vehicles on tires).

Councilor Paulo Frange, the creator of the original project, believes that the works can start in 2023 and also spoke about the need for infrastructure actions.

"We need, along this Marginal, social housing buildings, non-social housing, companies, hospital buildings, and hotels. It's a very upscale city area", says councilor Paulo Frange.
