A survey
conducted by GRI Club in partnership with EBP Brasil sought to understand how
real estate members and some leaders are interested in and look at
sustainability within the market. The idea of conducting this survey came after a meeting
held by GRI Club in the first semester of the year, where the subject was
debated and, in addition, the various certifications that are emerging within
our real estate market, including the recent Minergie certification. This Minergie certification was created in Switzerland
in the 1990s and is now present in 25% of new Swiss constructions, about 50,000
certified buildings. Present in countries such as Mexico and Chile, the
certification arrived in Brazil in July of this year. Returning to the survey, eight questions were asked to
market executives, where they were asked about aspects that concern
environmental issues related to real estate development. Overall, the survey shows that, yes, there is a concern
and attention to looking at the sustainability agenda within the real estate
market, but there is a deficiency in actions to develop such an agenda.
70% of
respondents said they want to know more about Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) for
construction, but they do not yet apply it in their activities.
