It has been announced that in 2025, Sírio-Libanês Hospital will expand its operations to a new location, the Chucri Zaidan. The new hospital unit will be installed in O Parque, owned by Brookfield Properties.
According to the statement released by the hospital, the new headquarters will begin operating in January and will be the fourth unit of Sírio-Libanês in São Paulo. An investment of R$ 150 million is being made for the adaptation of the nine occupied floors.
"The new Sírio-Libanês Morumbi unit is an important step in our growth strategy, in which the institution aims to double its size by 2030," says Paulo Nigro, CEO of Sírio-Libanês.
With 19 floors, the institution's lease was the first in O Parque, and the contract was signed in late 2023. The choice of the region is due to a demand for service, as explained by the hospital's general director, Fernando Ganem.
"We have observed that this region currently has a high demand for medical-hospital services, and we see an opportunity to bring Sírio-Libanês services and quality closer to our clients/patients and also to the local population," says Ganem.
For the owner, the trend for the remaining floors is to continue with the healthcare sector, with offices and clinics, according to Brookfield's EVP.
"In addition to Sírio-Libanês, we intend to rent out the other floors for medical clinics and offices, turning the building into a Life Science concept development, a segment in which Brookfield Properties already operates in the USA," says Hilton Rejman, executive vice president of Brookfield.
Currently, the Life Sciences sector occupies 5.2% of all office stock in Brazil, totaling 542,000 m². Only the Medical sector - clinics, hospitals, and medical offices - occupies 339,000 m² in Class A+, A, and B offices, according to data from SiiLA's Marketing Analytics.
In the Chucri Zaidan region, the Life Sciences sector represents 10.2% of the occupancy in the area, totaling 67,000 m² out of a region with a stock of 922,000 m² and a vacancy rate of 27%.
