USP plans to invest R$ 2 billion, resume construction and hire 876 professors

07/11/2022 Eight years after plunging into a severe financial crisis, the University of São Paulo (USP) plans to invest R$ 2 billion over the next few years in projects that were on hold at the Parque dos Museus, the construction of a technology district on the Butantã campus and the adoption of sustainable technologies.
USP also plans to build the Technological District of Jaguaré on a 40,000-sq metres site, where the USP Innovation Agency (Auspin) is located, on Avenida Escola Politécnica. The project, still in the elaboration phase, is inspired by models already adopted in Barcelona and New York.
The idea is to attract large and small companies to the district, such as startups, restaurants, and cultural and social spaces.To get the project off the ground, in addition to the R$ 100 million disbursed by USP will need to set partnerships with the private sector and the state government.
