The total sold on Via Varejo’s platform in 2020, the GMV (Gross Merchandise Value), reached R$38.8 billion, increasing 21% when compared to 2019. Of the total sold, 48.5% were online sales, Via Varejo and third-party brands, totalling R$18 billion - the volume includes products purchased online but collected at the store. The share of digital sales increased more than doubled in the annual comparison, from 23.9% to 48.5%.“The growth potential is still enormous. If we think about it, before the pandemic, the Brazilian population that bought online was between 6% and 7%. With the digitisation after the lockdown, this percentage may have soared to 12%.
However, there is still 88% of the population outside the online market,” highlights Roberto Fulcherberguer, president of the company.
