The first shopping mall in the northern zone of São Paulo, Brazil is now larger and more modern. In late October, Shopping Center Norte inaugurated its expansion, which was budgeted at R$100 million and added an additional 6,000 square meters of gross leasable area (GLA) to the development, representing a 10% increase in area.
According to the asset management, the new space brings about 30 new stores and services, “which aim to provide a fluid and attractive shopping experience for consumers.” One of the important expansions was the parking area, with an additional 840 spaces, 600 of which are covered. According to Center Norte, covered parking spaces were among the top customer demands.
The façade was redesigned and the entrance gained a landscaping project, giving a modern look to a shopping mall that opened its doors in 1984. In the expanded corridors, customers will find new services and brands such as Zara, Oakley, NBA Store, Adidas, Sephora, and others. In recent months, new restaurants have opened, such as units of the Pirajá and Vaca Véia bars.
According to data from the GROCS platform, before the expansion, Center Norte already had more than 66,000 square meters of GLA as of the end of the data for Q2 2023. Among the occupants are major retail stores such as Renner, C&A, Riachuelo, and Centauro.
